We spent the past few weeks having fun with a variety of traditional stories.

TODDLER TIME

This group focused on traditional songs and rhymes and got to watch the mouse run up the clock during “Hickory Dickory Dock”, help Humpty Dumpty to feel better when he fell off the wall, and
be tickled by Mummy or Daddy during “Round and Round the Garden”. We enjoyed the starry sky as we sang “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and felt very festive when we got out the bells and sang “Jingle Bells”!

LITTLE LEARNERS

This group experienced the stories “The Three Little Pigs” and “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” as puppet shows. Using them as a springboard, we were able to act out opposites (hot/cold, big/small, fast/slow). We played “Pig, Pig, Wolf”, enjoyed some letter visitors (the B, the S, and the Princess P came), and had fun winning jewels during our lesson on “The Princess and the Pea”.

GET READY

This group enjoyed hearing the stories “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” and “Jack and the Beanstalk” and acting them out. We identified words that rhyme with “Jack” and had fun jumping every time we heard one. We even tried to write some words ourselves! We learned how to tell time to the hour after hearing “Little Red Riding Hood” and loved running around as gingerbread men!

This group worked with fractured fairy tales–fairy tales with a twist! After reading several versions of “The Three Little Pigs,” we created our own version of “Little Red Riding Hood”. In our version, she wasn’t just walking through the woods to visit her grandmother; that’s too old fashioned for these kids! Little Red Riding Hood hopped onto an airplane to go on holiday with her grandmother. Unfortunately the Big, Bad Wolf caught up with her at the hotel restaurant and then headed up to the hotel room to have Granny for a snack. They performed their version for their parents on the last day. Great work!
